Wine books

A Traveller’s Wine Guide to Italy is a handsome 144-page paperback, printed in full colour. Packed with photographs and maps, it’s an invaluable guide to visiting the Italian wine regions. The latest edition, hot off the press, for the first time contains e-mail addresses and websites for several hundred wineries that welcome visitors. The author, Stephen Hobley, has been the resident Italian specialist at Decanter magazine for nearly 20 years, and this book is the result of innumerable visits made by him to Italy during that time. Copies of A Traveller’s Wine Guide to Italy may be obtained from the International Secretariat in London for £5.95 each, inclusive of postage and packing within the U.K. (Prices for postage to destinations outside the U.K. can be supplied on request.)
A copy of the companion volume, A Traveller’s Wine Guide to France, is available at the same price. Both books can be purchased together for £10.95.
But there is an even more cost-effective way of buying the books. If you order a carton of 30 copies of the same title for your branch, to be sent by parcel post, the total cost is £100.00 for the carton, or £3.34 per copy.
The I.W.F.S. can bring you these books at such low prices because our edition is printed on the back of a new edition produced for the U.S. publishers. The price of the American edition is $19.95 (currently about £13.75) so the I.W.F.S edition is available at less than half price. The Secretariat can accept payment by cheque, Visa or MasterCard. All profits from the sale of the I.W.F.S. edition will go directly to the Society.
You can obtain an order form from the International Secretariat. Tel: 020 7827 5732 Fax: 020 7275733 E-mail: sec@iwfs.com

What the press has to say about The Traveller’s Wine Guides:
According to Frank J. Prial, writing in The New York Times, the guides “offer clear, colorful maps, driving times from major cities, descriptions of the regions and their wines, short and lengthy itineraries, and times and places for local wine festivals. There are sections on food specialties to go with a region’s best wines.”
According to The San Francisco Chronicle, “One of the enjoyable bonuses of wine appreciation and collecting is the related travel. Most of the world’s great wine regions are interesting places to visit, not only for the wines, but the local history, customs and lore.”
Decanter magazine’s review reads, “The authors have packed an astonishing amount of practical advice, historical and architectural information, and an easy-to-read breakdown of every wine area in their chosen countries into a handy paperback format.... Stephen Hobley (on Italy) is also adept at digging out nuggets of fact and lore which might escape the casual traveller.” The Traveller’s Wine Guides series has already sold about 200,000 copies in various editions and languages.
