The East Bay Branch of the International Wine and Food Society was founded in 1977. We currently have 10 members total and would really like to increase our membership to a critical mass. We always welcome new ideas for events. In the past few years our activities have included: · gourmet restaurant dinners; · wine tastings, including blind tastings; · visits to vineyards and other places of interest such as micro-breweries; · cooking demonstrations followed by dinner; · wine and food events at members’ homes; · the formal holiday gala in December (December 17 in 2006). We try to taste wines that one usually can only read about. For example, in 2005 we tasted all five first growths and three second labels of the first growths from the 2001 Bordeaux vintage.
